Houston, Texas · Incident Oct. 4, 2026 · HPD release dated Oct. 5, 2026

What the record confirms

According to a Houston Police Department news release dated Oct. 5, 2026, officers responded to a report of a shooting at 5800 Hardway Street in northwest Houston at about 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026.

Quinteceia Alexander, 30, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 184th Criminal District Court. HPD says the charges were filed after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Three officers fired their weapons: Officers J. Izaguirre, R. Pfeiffer and C. Payne. HPD says all three are assigned to the North Patrol Division and were sworn in as officers in January 2024.

Both Alexander and the man who was shot were taken to an area hospital. HPD's release says both were in critical condition. The man has not been publicly identified.

The case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division's Special Investigations Unit, HPD's Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office. That review covers the officers' decision to fire, which is standard for HPD shootings.

What police say happened

HPD says officers were told that a woman had shot a man multiple times and was leaving the area on foot. According to the department, responding officers saw her walking east on Pinemont Drive, away from the apartment complex where the shooting was reported.

Police say officers gave her multiple commands to stop and she did not comply. HPD says she kept walking east toward Hardway Street, where she produced a firearm and pointed it at officers. The officers fired, striking her more than once, according to the release.

HPD says officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics gave first aid before she was taken to the hospital.
