LaFayette, Georgia · Arrest Oct. 22, 2026 · GBI release dated Oct. 23, 2026

What the record confirms

According to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation release dated Oct. 23, 2026, GBI agents arrested former Walker County Sheriff's Office deputy Amadou Diaw, 33, of LaFayette, on Oct. 22, 2026. He was booked into the Walker County Jail.

The GBI says Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson asked the agency on Sept. 30, 2026, to investigate a deputy suspected of misusing the Georgia Crime Information Center database.

Diaw is charged with unauthorized disclosure of criminal history record information, computer theft, computer trespass, violation of oath of office and misdemeanor obstruction.

The GBI says that once its investigation is complete, the case will go to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution. The Chattanooga Times Free Press and FOX 5 Atlanta also reported the arrest.

What investigators say

The GBI says its investigation found that Diaw illegally accessed GCIC records while working as a deputy.
